Results: TNA Impact Wrestling – 9/10/14

[Q1] Chris Melendez got a full color guard treatment along with the national anthem, and was then introduced by Jeremy Borash. Mike Tenay made a reference to the 9/11 attacks as Melendez entered to a rock song that sounded part national anthem and part sweet child of mine. They really hammered home the patriotic element, if that wasn’t obvious. DJ Z made his entrance to near silence.
    1. Chris Melendez vs. DJ Z: Melendez looked clumsy during a chain wrestling sequence as you’d expect, but he hit a nice looking neck breaker a moment later and DJ Z rolled outside. Melendez played to the crowd, but DJ Z ran in and hit a chop block to Melendez’s prosthetic. Melendez hit a side slam and got a two count. DJ Z fired back with some strikes, but Melendez shoved him into the ropes and hit a Samoan Drop and got the win.
Chris Melendez defeated DJ Z at 3:02.
Tenay plugged the Tag Gauntlet main event, and Bobby Roode made an entrance for a promo…[c]
Roode opened up his promo by talking about how great he felt. He spoke about his opportunity at the TNA Championship, and how ready he felt to reclaim the Championship. He put over Eric Young and said that he always brought out the best in him, whether they were opponents or partners, and said he would always consider him a World Champion. He started on about his match against Lashley, but Lashley’s music hit and his crew came out.
MVP made an analogy from an action movie and told Roode that there would be no happy moment where the hero wins at the end of his story. He called Lashley Darth Vader, and there would be no happy ending for Roode. MVP then said the best Roode can hope for is a short hospital stay. Roode then retorted and said that the only difference between MVP and Lashley is that MVP has fear and doubt all over his face, and Lashley has none. Roode says Lashley knows that he can beat him, but he knows Roode can beat him too. Roode then turned to MVP and said that there was nothing he could do about it.
MVP told Roode that’s where he was wrong, and took a swing at him. The heels beat down Roode for 10 seconds until Joe and EY made the save. Joe challenged them to a six man match, and said he wanted to do it right now. The heels accepted…[c]
    2. Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode and EY vs. Kenny King and Lashley and MVP: Joe dove to the outside and took out all three heels to start the match. He then started out the match with Kenny King and dominated the early going. Kenny King hit a nice kick and hung up Joe on the ropes to get in on the offense, but Joe got out of the way of a springboard attempt and tagged in EY.
King got in some strikes and tagged in MVP. EY used his speed advantage and hit a belly to belly on MVP for a two count. EY walked into a clothesline in the heel corner and Lashley tagged in. They isolated Young in their corner and made quick tags to keep themselves fresh. Lashley tried for an arm bar, and then pivoted into a triangle choke. EY powered up Lashley and reversed out of the hold with a powerbomb. Roode and MVP tagged in, and Roode cleaned house on the heels.
[Q3] Roode hit a blockbuster from the top, and sent Kenny King crashing to the floor. Joe cleared Lashley off the ring, and Roode hit a Roode Bomb on MVP and pinned him for the three count.
Roode, EY and Samoa Joe defeated MVP, Lashley and Kenny King at 9:57.
Tenay put Roode over big as they went to commercial…[c]
Backstage, Brittany walked up to Gunner and asked if Samuel Shaw is seeing anybody. Gunner told her he’s pass along that she asked about him. The Beautiful People and Bro Mans made their entrances together, because someone in TNA has been tapping into my nightmares. The Menagerie made their entrance, complete with Rebel.
    2. Bro Mans and Velvet vs. Knux and Rebel and Crazy Steve: Crazy Steve freaked out Robbie E and he tagged in Jessie. Jessie got the better of Steve, so he bailed and tagged in Knux. After a minute or so, Crazy Steve tagged back in and was isolated in the heel corner for a while. Rebel got tagged in, and so Velvet had to enter. Rebel did the splits to avoid a clothesline, and hit a sunset flip that the Bro Mans had to break up.
[Q4] They did a stupid spot where Crazy Steve kissed Velvet, because sexual assault is always good for a laugh. Rebel hit a body slam and climbed up top. Angelina interfered and kept Rebel from executing her move, and Velvet rolled her up and used the tights to get the win.
Bro Mans and Velvet defeated The Menagerie at 4:02.
Kurt Angle was shown backstage, and said he was tired of EC3 trying to tell him how to do his job. He said he would ask EC3 to join him in the ring, so he could tell him who to wrestle and when, and he didn’t think he was going to like it…[c]
Team 3D cut a promo about winning their tables match to win their 24th Tag Team Championship. Oh Brother, Testify. You’ve heard this one before. Kurt Angle said he was proud of the direction of TNA as of late, and has been especially proud of what they’ve done since they came to New York. He said one wrestler has been a malcontent, though, and he wanted him to come out. He then demanded EC3 come out and speak to him.
EC3 made his entrance and asked Kurt if he knew what had happened. He reminded everyone that his Aunt was put through a table. He then demanded that everyone be held accountable for what happened, and that he would dish out vigilante justice until his demands are met. EC3 then reminded Kurt that he took him out twice, and he would do it again if he had to.
Kurt said he hasn’t forgotten what was done to him, and when the time is right he would kick EC3′s ass. He reminded EC3 that he is the executive dUp next the irector and he is a wrestler, and he will send him home right now. Kurt said he was a fair man, so he wouldn’t book him in a match tonight, but he would book him in a street fight right now. He then introduced Rhino as EC3′s opponent.
[Q5] 3. Rhino vs. EC3 in a street fight: They brawled all over ringside and Rhino hit a vertical suplex on the ramp. EC3 took a trash can lid to the face in the ring, and Rhino covered for a two count. He then grabbed a Kendo Stick and wore EC3 out with it. EC3 regrouped with a low blow and went to work with a trash can. He set up the can in a corner and grabbed a chair. He hit Rhino with it and covered for a two count.
More brawling and trash cans. Rhino set up for a Gore, but EC3 moved and sent him into the trash can in the corner. EC3 then hit a knee lift followed by One Percenter on a steel chair for the win.
    EC3 defeated Rhino at 5:04.
Up next the knockouts cover girl is revealed….[c]
A Chris Melendez pre-taped promo aired, where he essentially talked about not giving up and being an inspiration to other people with disabilities. Patriotic music played in the background. In the ring JB attempted to announce who would be the Knockouts Calendar, but Angeline Love interrupted and started her victory speech early. JB stole the mic back and announced that Velvet Sky would be on the cover. Velvet got in a few seconds of celebration before Havok’s music hit. She walked to the ring and Gail Kim met her on the ramp. Havok tossed her aside and stole the Knockouts Title and left up the ramp. A Bound for Glory ad aired and then they cut to James Storm at his Not Wyatt’s compound.
[Q6] Storm had Manik tied to a 4×4 post and told him that his disciples will speak. He began to take off Manik’s mask, but then told the cameras to get away. Tenay and Taz put over Tajiri and Aries vs Storm and Sanada for next…[c]
Footage of Lashley winning at Bellator was shown, followed by Gail Kim as she hunted down Havok backstage. James Storm then made his entrance with The Great Sanada. They were followed by Tajiri and Aries.
    4. Tajiri and Austin Aries vs. James Storm and The Great Sanada: Sanada and Tajiri chain wrestled to begin, and then Aries and Tajiri cut off the ring and isolated Sanada. Aries applied the last chancery, and Storm broke the hold. Both Sanada and Storm got dumped to the outside, and Aries hit a suicide dive to take them both out.
Sanada distracted the ref so Storm could gain a cheap advantage on Aries with a thumb to the eye. They cut off Aries and used various heel tactics to keep him in their corner. Aries avoided the Eye of the Storm and hit a discus forearm. Tajiri and Sanada tagged in and Tajiri hit a nice back elbow. Tajiri it a nasty looking kick, and a moment later he applied a tarantula to James Storm.
[Q7] Tajiri ducked the mist from Sanada, and locked in the tarantula on him. Storm broke up the hold with beer spit into his face, and Sanada followed up with a stiff kick and got the win.
James Storm and The Great Sanada defeated Austin Aries and Tajiri at 5:14.
The Hardys cut a promo about their history in tables matches, and said they would get one step closer to the Tag Team Championships. Gail Kim and Brawled backstage, and Havok got the better of it heading into the break…[c]
Havok and Gail had a walking brawl that spilled out into the arena. They were separated by security, and Havok absolutely demolished the security people that pulled her away from Gail. She threw one onto the ramp and chokeslammed the other on the floor. Team 3D made their ring entrance, followed by The Hardys and The Wolves.
    5. Team 3D vs. The Hardys vs The Wolves in a tables match: All six men brawled on the outside to begin the match. A “get the tables” chant started almost immediately. Team 3D hit a what’s up on Matt Hardy and pumped up the crowd for tables.
[Q8] They grabbed a table from underneath the ring. The Wolves tried a double dropkick into the table, but they lifted the table and they missed. The Hardy’s followed up and hit flush and Team 3D were laid out on the floor…[c]
Matt tossed Davey into the leg of the table, and then dropped Eddie on the side of the table into his ribs. Jeff climbed up top to put Eddie through a table, but Davey met him there. Devon moved the table from the center of the ring, and Davey hit a superplex. There were a few close calls with tables, including Jeff Hardy breaking a table with a dropkick, but no one could put anybody away. The Wolves hit a nice double dive that splashed all four other competitors at ringside.
Jeff Hardy set up a table with the legs up, suspended between the apron and the ring stairs. The table got partially broken, and brought into the ring. Team 3D broke up an attempt to put Matt Hardy through a table, then got sent to ringside. Matt put Eddie on top of a table at ringside, and Jeff hit a Swanton off the top to get the win.
The Hardys defeated Team 3D and The Wolves at 13:10.
The Hardy’s climbed a ladder to pick the next stipulation, and to no one’s surprise, it will be ladder match.
